Pregnancy is an exciting time for expectant mothers, but it can also be a very physically demanding and challenging time for them as well. There are many physical changes throughout the trimesters including morning sickness, hormonal changes, postural changes from growing abdomens, swelling in ankles and hands, headaches, wrist complaints, joint laxity and increased load on joints. With this increased physical demand, it is important that mums take care of themselves and take measures to help avoid any unnecessary stress and discomfort throughout their pregnancy. Myotherapy can help alleviate or manage many of the physical ailments that may be experienced during pregnancy, and can be especially helpful and effective at a time where many pain killers or other medications are off limits. Massage, joint mobilisations, assisted stretching, lymphatic drainage and other techniques employed by the prenatal Myotherapist can help to: Ease morning sickness symptoms Stabilise hormones Decrease stress and anxiety and improve sleep Reduce muscle pain and tension, swelling and joint stiffness Ease leg cramps and hip pain Improve and maintain good posture We are trained to identify related conditions and help advise you on how to best manage your posture and pains as your body changes. We can help treat a wide range of presentations that are common to expectant mothers, including: Headaches and neck pain Carpal tunnel, Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) and other wrist complaint Pelvic girdle pain and neuralgia Sciatica Neck, rib and lower back pain Hip, knee and ankle complaints Calf cramping
